Finished: Four Sphinxes of Fathers Breath
December 12, 2012 by Jeffrey Beebe
This drawing has been a fortifying thing. Each time I work on something, I try to tuck little nuggets, little leaping off points that I can revisit in future drawings. For instance, in working on this drawing I learned that the pass through which the Father's Breath howls in called the Throat of the Patriarch. I also learned that at least four sphinxes have lived in this wind-scoured, madness-inducing landscape--who else lives there? How are they effected by the by constant exposure to the Breath? And these artifacts--the Iron Flask of Arzach and the Book of Brown Bass Knowledge--what the hell are those things? Each drawing I finish leaves me with anywhere between two and twenty new concepts to explore. I love it.
