A sagacity calyx is the owl pellet-esque object an “Uncle” regurgitates shortly before he dies. These calyxes contain the knowledge of not just the current, moribund Uncle but all of the knowledge of every single direct blood-relative of the Uncle that came before him. The Uncle-son Apparent then eats the calyx and gains generations of all the amassed knowledge. When this Uncle-son gets old, he’ll pass that wisdom along to *his* Uncle-son via a new sagacity calyx. The calyxes in this illustration—cut from the Uncles prematurely as trophies and status symbols—were collected by the Red Soil Boys before this assembled acknowledge was handed down thus permanently disrupting the ritual. (Calyxes are drawn to scale when possible. Kinda.)
